TANO SOUTH DISTRICT CELEBRATE GHANA’S 53RD INDEPENDENCE DAY

The Tano South District Chief Executive, Hon Bukari Zakari Anaba has called on the people of the Tano South to pay homage to the sons and daughters of Ghana whose vision and determination won independence for the country. Making the call, he said our forefathers such as Dr. Kwame Nkrumah who led Ghana to gain independence in 1957 have left indelible impression in world history. Hon Bukari Zakari Anaba made this call during the District celebration of Ghana’s 53^rd Independence Day held at Bechem, under the theme “Investing in The Youth for a Better Ghana”.

The District Chief Executive noted that the government’s policy to invest and train the youth are designed to create employment and enable productive ventures to tap the needed manpower. He therefore hinted that government will employ over One Hundred Thousand youth in the National Youth Employment Programme with a permanent source of revenue to avert the delay of payment of allowance. Mr. Bukari Zakari Anaba said since the celebration coincided with the Centenary Celebration of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the youth in the district must resolve to stay at home by way of using their energies and enthusiasm to serve Ghana. He used the occasion to honour Miss Beatrice Adongo a freach tutor of the Bechem Presbyterian senior high school who was adjudged the best French tutor in the 2009 national best teachers award for the honour bestowed on the Tano South District.

He further urged the people to reflect on the legacies that our forefathers bequeathed for us and consider how we can commit ourselves to leaving a solid legacy for the generations after us.

School children, voluntary organizations and other identifiable groups took part in the anniversary parade and prizes were awarded to schools which excelled in the march past whilst each school and group received a certificate for participating in the event.
