TANO SOUTH DISTRICT MARKS DAY AT BRONG AHAFO @ 50 TRADE SHOW (DWAKESEE )

A trade show dubbed ‘’Dwakesee’’ which formed part of activities to mark the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the creation of the Brong Ahafo Region saw all thetwenty-two (22) Districts of the Region been represented by exhibitors with Tano South District as no exception.

The Tano South District brought together to the fair exhibitors in soap production, Beads production, Herbal products, Kente weaving, Graphic designing , Agricultural products and also Showcased the Cocoa swollen shoot disease and many more on cocoa production as the district could boast of a cocoa station.

The one week event saw products exhibited in the Six (6) stands allocated to the Tano South District receiving the greatest patronage. As part of activities at the trade show each District of the Region was given a day to mark it’s day.

Two cultural troupes from the Tano South District namely the new Generation Cultural troupe of the centre for National Culture and the Bechem Technical school for the deaf thrilled the crowd who gathered to witness the District’s day.

A poem on how the District’s capital town of Bechem got it’s name was recited by Miss Christiana Darko of the centre for National culture Tano South District office to usher in the District Chief Executive to deliver his address.


In his address the Tano South District Chief Executive Hon. Bukari Zakari Anaba mentioned the numerous Educational institutions the District could boast of such as the St. Joseph College of Education Bechem, Presbyterian Senior High School, Bechem Business College, Presbyterian Senior High / Commercial school Techiemantia, Technical school for the Deaf and Bechem women’s Training institute .

He said he was happy to note that the main purpose of the day was not only to make merry but also to serve as a rallying point for the Tano South District, as well as to sell the Tourism and Business potential of the District, this he said was why he considers it a duty to be here today, not merely to witness the celebration but also to invite you to come to the Tano South District to invest and do business.

The District Chief Executive invited investors to come and site a tomato processing plant in the District since it could boast as the bread basket of tomatoes in the region.

Hon. Bukari Zakari said the strategic location of the District as the entry point / gate way to the Brong Ahafo Region from Southern Ghana put’s it in an unique position to attract Tourist and mentioned that currently the District has some emerging Hospitality facilities such as Orange Hotel ,London Sympathy Hotel, the District Assembly Rest House and many more.

The District Chief Executive mentioned cash crops / food stuffs / cereals, such as Cocoa, Oil Palm, Coffee, Plantain, Cassava, Green pepper, Tomatoes etc as also prominent in the District.

The people of Tano South District, the District Chief Executive said were also doing well in the following small scale industries such as:

v Soap making

v Kente weaving

v Beads making

v Graphic Designing

v Traditional Herbs

v Leather works

and called on all and sundry present at the function to visit the Tano South stands at the trade show to see things for themselves.

The District, he said is very hospitable and peaceful and said all a

re welcome to the District. Peace, he said is a requisite for development ,peace and development he again said are bed fellows and where there is peace is development but no development can take place without peace,that is why he is inviting all Businessmen / Women to come and invest in the Tano South District because there is abundant peace.

The function was chaired by the Adontenhene of the Bechem Traditional Area Nana Odiasempa Kwame Beniako II who in his closing remarks retaliated the District Chief Executive’s call to investors to come and invest in the Tano South District.
