TANO SOUTH DISTRICT UNDERTAKES TREE PLANTING AND CLEAN UP EXERCISE

As
part of activities making the Brong Ahafo @ 50 celebrations, the Tano South version of the tree planting and clean up exercise was undertaken at Techimantia.

A total number of one thousand three hundred and twenty five (1325) seedlings made up of 895 acacia and 420 teek were planted throughout the district through the participation of all Assembly men and women who led their people in their various communities to undertake the exercise.

The tree planting exercise which preceded the clean – up exercise saw various communities tidying their environs, desilting chocked gutters and clearing of bushes around their environment. An enthusiastic approach which was exhibited by communities in the district could be seen in the communal spirit they showed by attending in their numbers.

Honorable Bukari further advised that they should show the same enthusiasm displayed during the tree planting exercise and take proper care of them for their growth.

Welcoming the District Chief executive and his entourage, the Techimantiahene Nana Oti Ampem expressed his gratitude to the Tano South District Assembly for choosing Techimantia s the venue for the district version of the tree planting and clan up exercise. Nana Oti Ampem said the people of Techimantia for the past years have been engaging in tree planting exercise but the improper care of the seedlings have seen most of them dying, a situation he said was not good enough.

Nana said as all stakeholders the town are taking part in the exercise they would see it that not even a single tree planted dies, as Techimantia has far too long suffered form wind storms rendering people homeless as roofs were rip off.

The chief assured the district Chief Executive that he and his people would see to the proper growth of the trees planted so that the future generation would come to enjoy the fruits of the exercise.

The District Chief Executive, the Techimantiahene, the Chief of the Zongo Community in Techimantia and an assembly woman planted symbolic trees to mark the occasion after they had earlier in the morning led the people in a clean – up exercise within the Techimantia Township.

Speaking at a short but impressive ceremony to mark the occasion at techimantia, the Tano South District Chief Executive Honorable Bukari Zakari Anaba advised the people not to wait for the assembly or the government to come out with a tree planting or clean – up exercise before they engage in them.

The District Chief Executive said by planting trees within their various vicinities the people would in future see that roofs of their buildings would not rip off during rainstorms since the trees would serve as wind breaks and would also serve as shades of the people to sit under during their leisure times.
