TANO SOUTH DISTRICT CELEBRATES 63RD INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSAY


A parade of school children and school cadet corps drawn from Primary, Junior High and Second Cycle schools together with some civil society organizations have converged  at Bechem to mark the  63rd Independence Day Anniversary Celebration.
The programme which  held at the Bechem Presbyterian Senior High School’s park saw dignitaries like Hon Collins Offinam Takyi, the MCE for Tano South, Mrs. Mabel Botokro, the Municipal Education Director, DSP James Teyi, the Municipal Police Commander, Hon. Asare Antwi  the Presiding Member for Tano South, DO II Abraham Tarm-Sackye, the Municipal Fire Commander, and Nana Fosu Gyeabour Akoto II, the Omanhene of Bechem Traditional Area, Assembly Members,  Clergy and Heads of various Government Departments and Agencies

In an anniversary speech delivered on behalf of the President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Tano South Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Collins Offinam Takyi urged Ghanaians irrespective of their political affiliations, religion, colour, ethnicity and amongst others to come together to address the challenges facing the developmental needs of Ghana. He said the existence of collaboration among our forefathers made them to attain Ghana's independence.  He feather said government has initiated Ghana beyond aid policy which seek to make Ghanaians use Ghana's products to ensure swiftly development of Ghana's economy and informed all and sundry to support the agenda of the government to make the policy to be effectively implemented

Hon. Takyi said, though 63 years after independence, there have been so many wasted opportunities which if utilized properly would have shaped the economy of Ghana but  said notwithstanding, the nation has made remarkable progress that needs to be celebrated. on  the holistic achievements of Ghana,  he said the country has been able to  maintain the atmosphere of  peace, control of epidemic and pandemic diseases, keep out terrorist activities, organised and management of elections,  introduced free SHS policy and amongst others.

 Hon. Takyi indicated that government in an attempt to prevent the spread of corona virus the country has constituted a high-powered emergency response team to handle the crisis and update president on the new development of the disease.
He commended the students and planning committee for working tirelessly to make the Municipality celebrates its 63rd Independence Day Anniversary and the schools which excelled well in the march past were given awards.
