EGGS ADVOCACY FORUM HELD AT BECHEM




A Non –Governmental Organization popularly known as ‘’Amplifies’’  has organized one-day stakeholders’ meeting to educate  residents in the Tano South Municipality on the importance of  eating eggs.
The programme which held at the Tano South Municipal Assembly’s conference hall saw Poultry farmers, representatives from MOFA, Health Service, Tano South Municipal Assembly, Bechem Christian Council, Media and Bechem Traditional Council.

In a short but impressive opening address, Mr Anokye Alex, Amplifies Field Monitoring Officer thanked participants for making time out of their busy schedule to attend the programme and urged them to also contribute their quota to make the programme a success. He said Amplifies operates in the three regions comprising Bono, Ahafo and Bono East  and hinted that the organization conducted social research on the relevance of eating eggs and at the end of the research, the organization realized that eggs supplies nine different nutrients to the body.
 On the importance of eating eggs, Mr Tim Abagre, the Bono Deputy Regional Nutrition Officer said some foodstuffs we eat do not supply the body with the required nutrients and since eggs supply many nutrients to the body, he informed participants to encourage their family members and other residents in the Municipality and beyond to eat eggs. He said when the body is supplied with the necessary nutrients, it makes the body grows and protects it from being attack by diseases.

Mr Tim said the body produces cholesterol and for that matter, participants must to eat the right proportion or quantity of egg since too much of everything is bad to make their bodies functions effectively. He also informed participants to desist from eating too much of fatty foods and encouraged them to eat boiled eggs rather than the flied ones to make them live longer and urged them to also use national events to sensitize the public on the importance of eating eggs.
Miss Adom, the field Officer took the participants through the role eggs play in the various parts of the human body and emphasized that eggs help to produce the right kind of blood to the body, reduce body weight, produce good muscle etc.
Kyeamene Opoku Agyeman who spoke on behalf of the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Akoto II, the Omanhene of Bechem Traditional Area and Chairman of the programme congratulated members of the Amplifies for extending their services to the Tano South Municipality and said the Bechem Traditional Council will do all they can to preach the message to help Amplifies achieves its goals and aspirations and also to make people know the relevance of eating eggs.
