STAKEHOLDERS MEETING HELD AT BECHEM



A two (2) day stakeholders’ meeting for the discussion of matters affecting the development of the Tano South District and way forward for the development of the district has been held at Bechem in the Brong Ahafo Region.
In a short opening address, Mr. Abdul Mumin Asare, Assistant Director IIB who spoke on behalf of the District Co-ordinating Director of the Assembly said, the decentralization concept meant that the Assembly is to take decisions with stakeholders in the development of the district and hinted that the purpose of the meeting is to give opportunity to all present to come out with problems hindering the development of the district.
The DCE for Tano South, Hon.Collins Offinam Takyi thanked the various Association Members for honouring his invitation and said since the Assembly’s staff alone cannot take decisions concerning the development of the District, there is the need for Assembly to take regular decision on the development of the District with  Stakeholders such as the Religions Leaders, Market Women, Association of Garages, Members of GPRTU and urged them to also contribute their quota to make the meeting a success.
He used the occasion to educate the Stakeholders on government policies and programmes such as the Free Senior High School Concept, Zongo Development Fund, One million dollar per each constituency and said, the Assembly is also putting in place measures for the expansion of School Feeding Programme, Rehabilitation of existing government bungalows, expansion of electrification project and road network maintenance.
Hon. Offinam said, the Assembly will complete some projects initiated by the previous government and initiate new ones but since the assembly has limited resources, there is the need for all present to educate the masses to honour their tax obligations to enable the Assembly get enough funds to finance its projects.
He informed Stakeholders to preach peace to ensure that peace continue to prevail in the district and the country as a whole and urged all to support the government to implement its policies and programmes since nation building is a shared responsibility.    
Present at the meeting were the DCE for Tano South, Hon. Collins Offinam Takyi, the District Co-ordinating Director of the Assembly and her Deputy Directors, Religious Leaders, Market Women Association, the Bechem Garages Association and Members of various Transport Unions.
