DERMA COMMUNITY DAY SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL RECEIVES SCHOOL BUS



A sixty six seater bus and a Mahyindra pick up vehicle inaugurated by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, as part of a fleet of vehicles to be released to Educational Institutions in the country has been handed over to the Derma Community Senior High School at a ceremony at Derma by the Tano South District Assembly.
At the handing over ceremony, a Deputy Director in charge of Finance and Administration at the Tano South District Directorate of Education, Mrs. Philomina Owusu Boampong who stood in for the Tano South District Director of Education, Rev. Robert Opoku in a speech expressed the Directorates gratitude to the President for making it possible for the Derma school to have a means of transport and hinted that, the vehicles would go a long way to help in the running of the school.
She said, since education is an important tool in human building, there is the need for parents to send their children to school and stressed that since success is not achieved on a silver platter ,students should take their studies seriously so  that they can achieve greater heights in future and advised that, the School Authorities, Students and Nananom should ensure that the proper maintenance culture is adhered to in the use of  the building and its environment.
In a speech, the Tano South District Chief Executive, Hon. Bukari Zakari Anaba commended those present for honouring the invitation and welcomed them to the handing over ceremony .He said, the MP for the Tano South Constituency, Hon. Dr. Hannah Louisa Bisiw through the her share of the Common Fund has undertaking a number of development projects in the District to improve the lives of the people and congratulated her for also  honouring her 2012 campaign promises.
Hon. Anaba said the government through the Tano South District Assembly has been able to implement a number of projects and programmes which have helped the District to attain more infrastructural developments and called on the people to look at the works of the   government and vote massively to retain the government in power in the up-coming general elections.
The Tano South District Chief Executive said, peace is the key to development and urged all Civil Society Organizations, Political Parties, Nananom , Opinion leaders  and all Well -meaning Citizens to ensure that peace is maintained before, during and after the 2016 general elections so as to move the country forward.
He advised that, we should all refrain from the politics of insults which he said does not auger well for our democratic dispensation and also pleaded with Nananom and the school authorities to see to it that proper care is taken on all the schools properties so that children yet unborn will come and enjoy them.
In an address, the Member of Parliament for the Tano South Constituency and Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Dr. Hannah Louisa Bisiw  said, the   NDC government is committed to do more development  projects to improve and better the lives of Ghanaians and hinted  that the Bechem – Techimantia road and many more in the District including the Derma – Asuoso  road have been awarded  on  contractors by the government and when  completed , they would open up to the transportation of goods and services and also foodstuff in all parts of  the district and called on all and sundry to give the contractors working on our roads in the district the needed assistance and support to enable them complete their work on schedule.
Touching on the Accounting to the people tour currently in progress by H.E John Dramani Mahama, the MP said, it is significant since it provides a platform for the president to let Ghanaians know of his achievements  and the way forward and urged all and sundry to support  programmes and policies of the government.
Hon. Bisiw concluded by cataloguing her achievements in the District during the 8 years she has been the Member of Parliament for the  Tano South  Constituency.
The Sanaahene of Derma, Nana Opoku Baah who chaired the function on behalf of the Dermahene thanked the government of Ghana, the Member of Parliament and the District Chief Executive for their roles in getting the Derma Community Day Senior High School project completed and commissioned on schedule and handing over of the two ( 2 ) vehicles to the school and promised that  Nananom will do all that it takes to see to it that the school’s properties are well taking care of and maintained.
