BECHEM GOVERNMENT HOSPITAL GETS MORE SUPPORT

The Tano South District Assembly has presented ten (10) street light bulbs and its accessories to the Bechem Government Hospital to beef up the lighting system to enhance security at the Hospital.

Making the presentation on behalf of the Tano South District Assembly, the District Chief Executive Hon Bukari Zakari Ahaba said the Hospital which was built by the Chiefs and people of Bechem through a special levy on bags of cocoa sold at the time and was taken over by the government after years of operation by the people needed to be resourced and uplifted to merit the status of a District Hospital. He said it is in this vain that an appeal was made to the Hon. Sepa Yankey a former Minister of Health during a working visit to the hospital for more amenities which the hospital lacked.

Hon. Zakari said the appeal has yielded positive results and has made the hospital to see some infrastructural development currently going on at the hospital. He hinted that the Tano South District Assembly has completed a residential accommodation for the District Director of Health who is occupying a doctors bungalow at the Hospital and by this arrangement the hospital would be in a position to employ the services of an additional doctor to add up to the one already at post. He promised of the assembly’s plan to get more residential accommodation for Nurses and Para-medical staff who are posted to the Hospital.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Hospital the Medical Superintendent Dr. Nuamah thanked the assembly for its immense support to the hospital and said as the proverbial Oliver Twist, they would ask for more to enhance quality healthcare delivery at the hospital. He said the acute residential accommodation problem facing the Hospital makes it difficult to get more staff and nurses posted to the facility and thanked the assembly for making frantic efforts to solve the accommodation problem.
