The centre for Democratic
Development (CDD- GHANA) in collaboration with Peace Society Initiative for
West Africa (OSIWA) has organised a stakeholders meeting to encourage citizens
to take part in the decision making process of the Local Government Budgeting
and Planning system at Bechem in the Brong Ahafo Region.
A facilitator at the workshop Mrs Midrene Aginaku of the
centre for Democratic Development in a speech thanked the entire participants
for honouring the invitation and said CDD- GHANA has been able to implement
projects in twenty (20) Districts across the country out of which Tano South
District is a beneficiary.
Mrs Aginaku said the theme for
the meeting, “Building Transparency, Participation and providing feedback
report of Local government Budgeting and Planning” was to enable CDD- GHANA to
be able to gather more information in the Tano South District and said it also
conducted a survey on ways the District Assemblies carry out functions and
realized that most of the citizens are not allowed to take part in the decision
making processes of the Assemblies in terms of the development of the district.
