RAINSTORM DESTROYS OVER THREE HUNDRED PROPERTIES


A heavy rainstorm has hit New Brosankro in the Tano South Municipality to destroy over three hundred properties and eventually rendered some of the victims homeless.
An eyewitness who was interviewed described the rainstorm as very disastrous and explained that the rain which came with thunder and lightning started 8th May, 2019 and ended 9th May, 2019.  After the rain he assessed the damages and found out that it has vandalized many properties including Brosankro L/ A Primary School and hinted that the event has made most of the affected people flee their homes to seek for shelter elsewhere.
Mr. Alexander Sarkodie whose abode was affected by the rainstorm called on government to do all it takes to support victims with the necessary materials to make them go on their normal duties at Brosankro. He said currently, Ghana is experiencing new climate change and the climate change has come with its associate problems and urged government to put measures in place to arrest and prosecute illegal chain saw operators and other party’s supporters who invade the forest to embark on deforestation exercise.

 Mr.  Abdule Jafaru, the Tano South National Disaster and Management Organization confirmed that the rainstorm has destroyed over three hundred and forty one (341) properties belonging to the people of New Brosankro. He assured the victims that government through the Tano South Municipal Assembly would do all they could to support them with some relief items to enable them continue to leave in the community to do their normal duties. He added that victims who were injured seriously have been conveyed to Bechem government hospital for treatment.
 The MP for Tano South Constituency and Deputy Minister for Ahafo Region Benjamin Yeboah Sekyere ( Hon.) and MCE for Tano South Collins Ofinam Takyi ( Hon.)  were also paid a visit to the community respectively to assess the extent of  damages and interacted with victims too. They said government would expedite action to provide relief items to the victims.
