EID-UR FITR CELEBRATED IN BECHEM

Hundreds of Muslims thronged the Islamic School Park at Bechem in the Tano South District to celebrate Eid-ur Fitr which marked the end of the 30 days Ramadan fasting. In a pre-anniversary prayer, Mallam Tahali Mohammed who led the Muslims in prayer to await the arrival of the Chief Imam said the Ramadan gives Muslims the platform to fast and pray. He added that fasting and praying also help bring peace and unity in the country.

ics of insults on their opponents since all manner of people could not belong to one party. He said Ghanaians are one people fighting for a common goal, that is, though each political party has its own way of achieving it, that does not make us enemies since insulting each opponent could degenerate into chaos.


The Tano South District Chief Executive Hon Zakari Bukari Anaba who joined his Muslim counterparts to celebrate Eid-ur Fitr in a speech conveyed special anniversary greetings from his Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana.

The District Chief Executive used the occasion to catalogue some achievements of the Tano South Assembly and mentioned not less than nineteen (19) developmental projects the assembly has undertaken in various parts of the district and also revealed that the tarring of Bechem town roads would begin soon. He informed the Muslims who intend to make the pilgrimage to Mecca this year to submit their names to his office for onward submission to Accra for early documentation to avoid last minute rush and disappointment.

Though the Muslims were celebrating Eid-ur Fitr the DCE used the occasion also to explain some government policies and programmes to them and informed them of the formation of Community Watch Committees in Bechem and other parts of the District to assist the security agencies in combating crime and robbery in the district.

The District Commander of Police of the Tano South District DSP Baah in a short speech entreated the Muslims to do all they can to assist the police to combat crime in the district. He called on them to report all cases to the police and report all suspicious characters in their communities to the police for investigation to be conducted on them since in assisting the police with information his outfit would go a long way to rid the society of criminals.

The District Chief Executive on behalf of the President presented fifty (50) bags of rice and 25 cartons of edible oil to the Muslims as the Government gesture to them during their festivity.

ba who received the items on behalf of the Muslim community thanked the DCE and the government for their support during the fasting and after and prayed for Gods guidance for them and the good people of Ghana.
