CONCERNED CITIZENS OF TANO SOUTH DEMOSTRATE IN SUPPORT OF HON DR HANNA BISIW

Placard bearing demonstrators, most of whom were dressed in red and others wearing red arm bands paraded the main street of Bechem the Tano South District Capital amid brass band music and marched to the Tano South District Assembly premises.

The demonstrators who called themselves concern citizens of Tano South were said to be demonstrating in support of Hon. Dr. Hanna Bisiw the Deputy Minister of Water Resources Works and Housing who is alleged in some circles as having amass wealth which has enabled her to undertake a number of projects in her constituency within two years thereby calling on the president to let Hon Bisiw to relinquish her position. Though the demonstrators is said to be called Concern Citizens of Tano South they could be seen as sympathizers of the National Democratic Congress who are supporting Hon Bisiw in her bid to run the parliamentary primaries of the party for the 2012 elections.

In a petition presented to the Tano South District Chief Executive Hon Bukari Zakari Anaba for onward presentation to the President H E Prof John Evans Atta Mills by Mr. Kwame Frimpong Secretary, the petition some which read:


“The leadership and members of the Concerned Citizens of Tano South Constituency wish to bring to the year notice the series of allegations leveled against the Hon. Deputy Minister of Water Resources Works and Housing, Dr Hanna Louisa Bisiw in recent times. The allegations are calculated to tarnish the image of the hard working minister who has done a lot to bring development to the people in the Tano South District. Since the Hon Deputy Minister declared her intention to be the Member of Parliament of the Tano South Constituency on the NDC ticket and the obvious fact that her good deeds will win her victory in the 2012 election. Her detractors have sought to bring her integrity to disrepute.”

The petition also catalogued a number of projects the Hon Minister have undertaken in the district and said this was a good job done by the Minister since she has been seen to be very developmentally oriented and such people are those needed to help the people. The petition also called on the President to note that the Deputy Minister has brought fame to the NDC and has won the hearts including many floating voters and even many die hard opposition party faithful to the NDC and desired applause rather than condemnation and said Hon Hanna Bisiw is the only NDC candidate who can wrestle the member of parliament seat from the sitting opposition party MP due to her hard work.


The Tano South District Chief Executive Hon Bukari Zakari Anaba who received the petition on behalf of the president assured the leadership of the demonstrators and the demonstrators at large that he will ensure that their petition get to the president and called on them to exercise restraint in the course of expressing their fundamental rights in respect of the demonstration.
