A sod cutting ceremony for work to begin on the
construction of two number three (2 NO 3) unit classroom blocks for the
Presbyterian and Ahamadya primary schools in Techimantia was held at Techimantia in the Tano South District of
the Brong Ahafo Region.
The projects which is been undertaking by two
construction companies namely Ishmael and Joe Kona companies are expected to be
completed in six (6) months .
In an address at a mini durbar for the sod-cutting
ceremony which saw the Tano South Constituency Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr
Hannah Louisa Bisiw, the Presiding member of Tano South District Assembly,
Constituency Executives of the NDC, Heads of department, Police personnel,
Nananom and people of Techimantia in attendance.
The Tano South District Chief Executive, Hon. Zakari
Bukari Anaba in an address said the NDC in its
campaign promises assured the people of quality Education when voted into power
and it is based on this promise that the M.P for the constituency has deemed it
fit to use part of the M.P’s common fund to provide for the construction of
these two separate classroom blocks for the pupils of the two schools to have a
suitable and comfortable places of learning.
On her part, the Member of Parliament and also
Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Dr. Hannah Louisa Bisiw said the two
projects which consist of two number three (2 No. 3) unit classroom blocks
with office and KVIP place of
convenience would cost GH₵ 135, 435. 58 for the Ahamadya project and GH₵
135, 135. 50 for the presby project to be carried out by Ishmael and Joe Kona
companies respectively.
Hon. Bisiw said the project when started would help
to minimize the financial burden of some of the youth of the area since some of
them would be employed to work at the project sites and entreated the
contractors to employ most of their labour force from the area.
She said she would work round the clock to ensure
that the Bechem –Techimantia road is tarred by the government and appealed to
Nananom to prepare their development action plan and forward it to the Assembly
to enable her and DCE know their developmental needs and also appealed to them
to contribute their quota towards the development of the area and used the
occasion to inspect some of the Assembly’s
ongoing projects in Techimantia.
The Krontihene of Techimantia, Nana Oppong said
Nananoms doors are opened for discussion on developmental issues of the area
and promised their support to whoever initiates a developmental project in the
area.
The M.P, DCE and their delegation had earlier paid
courtesy call on Nananom at the chief’s palace where all customary rites were
performed.
