In a speech, the Tano South District Chief Executive, Hon. Bukari Zakari Anaba said the occasion is a national day set aside to honour distinguished citizens of the country whose toil and sacrifice have brought Ghana this far since 1960. He stressed that, these remarkable achievement of the great sons and daughters of Ghana has placed the country in an enviable position in the world. Hon. Anaba disclosed that these numerous sacrifices, hard work and love for Ghana demand recognition and commendation.
He implored the younger generation who would become future leaders to take cue from the behavior of the older generation who have made Ghanaians proud and continue their good work. He said, the youth today are plagued with many social vices and immoral lifestyles that have destroyed the moral fibre of the country. The District Chief Executive therefore appealed to the senior citizens to continually offer their wise counsel and rich experiences to help build the country. The senior citizens were treated to good old tunes and sumptuous meals.
