TEACHERS UNDERGO TRAIN OF TRAINERS WORKSHOP AT TECHIMANTIA

Thirty IC T teachers drawn from the Techimantia Circuit of the Ghana Education Service in the Tano South District have undergone a three day train of trainers workshop on ICT

The workshop was aimed to facilitate the participants on the ICT component of the Educational Curriculum to enable them facilitate training for students / pupils from their respective schools and also train other teachers in their communities.

The workshop which had messrs Divinus Oppong-Tawiah a programme officer of U N D P and Addrews Mac Ampiah a Technical Officer of Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication ( GIFEC) as facilitators saw the teachers undergoing training in the following programmes.

1. Training Methodologies.

2. Computer Basics.

3. Computer Hardware and Software.

4. Managing Files and folders.

5. Introduction to MS Windows.

6. MS Office Application.

Participants after the training workshop described it as very useful and timely and commended the resource persons for their patience in taking them through the programmes and called

for more of such workshops.

A spokesperson for the teachers said the workshop had been well organized and had been very fruitful. He said there was the need for the government to connect every village which had a school to the national grid to enable every school to access electricity for the use of computers.

He also commended the MT N and UNDP for their collaboration to make ICT available to all communities and schools and thanked them for siting the ICT Training Centre at Techimantia.

The spokesperson assured the facilitators that they would do all that they can to train their pupils so that they can rub shoulders with their counterparts in the Urban Towns and cities when it comes to examinations in the basic school level .

Mr. Divinus Oppong Tawiah of the UNDP commended the teachers for their comportment during class sessions and also thanked the District Information Officer and staff and also the District Education Directorate for the able manner in which they organized the workshop and promised it would not be a nine day wonder as more of such workshops would be organised in the near future.
