The teachers, clad in red attires with red bands on their wrists and heads amid singing, drumming, dancing and carry placards
some of which read, “NO 6TH MARCH”, “ENKO YIE ATTA”, “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH NO SINGLE SPINE NO TEACHING” marched to the premises of the Tano South District Assembly to present a resolution to the District Chief E
xecutive.
Presenting the resolution, Mr. Peter Yeboah who led a team of executives to present the resolution said the teachers who are united seek for clarification on the Single Spine Salary Structure and wondered if teachers are included in this scheme or not.
The teachers mentioned that after waiting for sometime for their February salaries after a directive contained in a circular which instructed all the banks not to pay the February salaries of Ghana Education Staff until some anomalies had been rectified, they were however shocked to note that their salaries had been cut down drastically when they later went for it.
The teachers wondered if this was the single spine they were expecting and why the downward adjustment. They wondered if the government understand and appreciate well the work or contribution of teachers in nation building.
Receiving the resolution on behalf of the government, the Tano South District Chief Executive Honorable Zakari Bukari Anaba commended the leadership of the teachers and the teachers in general for the manner they comported themselves throughout the demonstration and assured that the resolution would be sent to the appropriate quarters for the necessary action to be taken on it and called on the teachers to return to the classroom since the government would do everything possible to address their grievances as the Atta Mills government is a listening government and would do everything possible to better the lives of Ghanaians for a better Ghana.
oh teachers! do not cry for the SSSS, b'cos NDC is not the inventor of the policy. how can they implement it? keep your fingers cross and wait for the real inventor of the policy. thus, NPP.
