FIFTY FOUR COMMUNITY HEALTH EXTENSION WORKERS BEGINS TRAINING IN THE TANO SOUTH DISTRICT

A two month training workshop for fifty four (54) Community Health Extension Workers has begun at Bechem in the Tano South District.

In a speech to open the workshop, the Tano South District Chief Executive Hon. Bukari Zakari Anaba congratulated the participants for qualifying to be selected out of the numerous applicants for the training.

The District Chief Executive said the role of the Health worker is very essential as they play a vital role in the Community and the District at large and occupied a unique position in the fortunes of the country. He urged them to take the training seriously and advised that they should let the sound training they would receive from the workshop reflect in their personal and professional lifestyles.

The District Chief Executive called on the trainees to be very patient, accommodating to the patients that would visit their places of work and cultivate the spirit of love and be willing to sacrifice a little for our people as they embark on their journey to the various medical institution and aim at improving the performance of health in their various communities. He stressed that their duty must not be limited to the services they would provide to their patients but the cooperation between them and the authorities must be cordial to provide better health care delivery in the District.

The District Chief Executive reminded them that the National Youth Employment programme is not a permanent job but a place to prepare for the future which is a contract period of two years and must therefore use the period to better their grades or results so that, after exiting they would be easily absorbed into other nursing institutions or continue their education.

The Tano South District Director of Health Services Mr. Duut Bedima urged the participants to take the training seriously and put in their maximum efforts in the learning and practical processes so as to give off their best at the various health facilities they would be posted to

He said their performances at an examination after the training would determine if they would be able to work or not as any poor performance would not be tolerated.

The Tano South District Youth Employment Coordinator Mr.Benjamin Agyei in a welcome address said the training workshop for the Health Extension workers formed part of a series of training the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) has rolled up to equip the youth of this country with different forms of training in different modules and to give them employment.

He said it is expected that the programme would go a long way to help the youth of this country in different careers, but quickly reminded them that the programme has an exit period of two years by which he hoped they would have learnt much and gained enough experience to enable them further their education in any of the health related institutions in the Country.

Mr. Agyei called for corporation during the training period and warmly welcomed all to the programme.
