TANO SOUTH MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY HOLDS A TWO DAY WORKSHOP FOR ASSEMBLY MEMBERS

 

The Tano South Municipal Assembly has held a two-day workshop for assembly members in the municipality at JOSCO assembly hall. 

The workshop was aimed at educating assembly members especially new elected and appointed ones on their roles, power and work as assembly members and proceedings at assembly meetings.

In attendance were the Municipal Chief Executive for Tano South, Hon. Collins Offinam Takyi, The Presiding Member, Mr. Asare Antwi, The coordinating director, Mr. Ayambire Akadite, representatives from NALAC, assembly members and some staff of the municipal administration.

workshop was needful because times keep changing and therefore calls for acquiring new knowledge on ways to tackle the work given. He said that though their works had already started and most of them had found their way around it, he urged members to be attentive and learn from the workshop since it has been well planned to give them the new required knowledge and skills needed to execute their work as assembly members. He mentioned that both appointees and elected members had the same mandate and urged them to work together wherever they found themselves. He concluded by telling assembly members not to put all their hopes on the central government with regards to development in the municipality, he pleaded with them to unite and work together for the greater good of Tano South Municipal.

In a short but impressive address the Team leader Mr. Kwasi Larnyoh said, though some of the things that will be talked about may not look new to most people but urged them to still pay attention since it is different from all the previous ones. He mentioned that the training was aimed at reforming the current assembly and educating them to focus more on developing their electoral areas and their assembly as a whole. He continued that the PowerPoint presentations had been put in a book to enable them to revisit at anytime. He ended by giving audience a brief on what they had to expect from the various presentations.

A CLEANUP EXERCISE HELD AT AKOBRO

 

The Assembly member for Akobro/Nyamebeye electoral area Hon. Afoakwa Kwasi has organise a cleanup exercise in the area. This exercise was aimed at cleaning the environment and inculcating the habit of cleanliness in electorates.

The clean-up exercise attracted a large number of people who participated in distilling choked gutters, weeding and sweeping of the environment.

In his address, Hon. Afoakwa thanked all participants for coming in their numbers to support such a good course, he mentioned that cleanliness is next to godliness and for that matter it was necessary to keep the environs clean. He continued by educating participant on covid-19 safety protocols and urged them to teach others in their homes and community.

Hon. Afoakwa advised the people not to dump refuse indiscriminately and later turn to clean them and urged all and sundry to be regular participants in all clean up exercises. He said, the exercise has helped tremendously to beautify the environment and has also helped to reduce cases of malaria and other air- borne diseases.

Speaking at the close of the clean- up exercise, Abuba Fuseni who represented the environmental health officer at Techimantia said, the clean-up exercise is to tidy their environments and must be treated as such. He said a clean environment breeds healthy people and healthy people become productive in the socio-economic life a nation and urged all present not to make the exercise a nine-day wonder. He said it will go a long way to bring sanity into our environment and urged all officials of the Assembly to enforce a law to make the exercise binding.
